Kappa Kappa Psi
National Honorary Band Fraternity

Kappa Kappa Psi, National Honorary Fraternity for College and University Bandmembers, is a co-educational national fraternity composed of members who throughout their lives are dedicated to the college band. Along with our national sister sorority, Tau Beta Sigma, we maintain our national office at Stillwater Station, Stillwater, Oklahoma. We are a 501(c)3 non profit organization under Title IX. Kappa Kappa Psi has over 160 chapters located at the best schools across our country. The Zeta Beta Chapter of Kappa Kappa Psi exists at Howard Payne University in Brownwood, Texas. We are truly in the "Heart" of Texas; our campus is only 29 miles from the exact geographical center of the state.

We exist to promote the existence and welfare of college bands, promulgate servant-leadership, experience brotherhood, and strive for the highest. For our individual chapter, the highest is Jesus Christ. We respect the diversity that makes up our organization, just as they respect our beliefs.

We, the brothers of Kappa Kappa Psi believe that service to the college or university band program promotes responsibility, loyalty, and leadership; that a spirit of brotherhood is enhanced by service to the band program; that music is a universal language and truly the greatest of the arts; and that through fraternal participation each member will strive for the highest.

Kappa Kappa Psi should not fall under the common perception of "fraternities". We hold ourselves to a much higher code of conduct in our thoughts, philosophies, and actions. Through a wide range of services, fundraisers, and activities we believe we provide students with an invaluable aid towards becoming better musicians and leaders. In many, but not all ways, we may be considered to serve the same purpose a your high school Band Booster organization. In addition, through the lessons learned in the Ritual, a brother learns to better conduct and live his life for the betterment of his fellow man. We have strict hazing, controlled substances and discrimination policies. You may read them by clicking here.

What we do
Kappa Kappa Psi - Zeta Beta
Service*Fraternity*Leadership*Honor
Service
Locally, we serve the band program at Howard Payne University. We do a variety of everyday tasks, such as setting up chairs and stands for band rehearsals, providing social functions for band students, honoring by award students who excel, & assisting the band director in any way needed. But we do more. We strive to go above and beyond, painting, building, and purchasing things that our band program would not have if we didn't exist. You can find out here more about how we serve as a chapter and how you can help.
Fraternity
We are fraternal in our nature. This means that at the same time we serve the band, we provide the student with an invaluable and fun social experience. We go on campouts, have spiritual retreats, attend conventions, take trips to visit other chapters, and meet and socialize together. Click here to find out a little bit more about what it means to be in.
Leadership
We participate in the Howard Payne Band Program as leaders. Most of the leadership in our band program and our School of Music is composed of members of Kappa Kappa Psi and Tau Beta Sigma. While the growth of individuals as leaders may vary, we strive for and expect that all our members will become better leaders and musicians through their fraternal experience. Nationally, our chapter has been honored by being selected as a "Chapter Leadership Finalist" for the years of 1999-2003. To find out more about this and how you also can be a leader click here.
Honor
"It is an honor to be selected to serve." Prospective Members of Zeta Beta are required to attain at least a 2.5 G.P.A. in the semester they are invited to join. Zeta Beta, as a chapter, regularly maintains an average G.P.A. of at least 3.00. You will find out more here about honor and intergrity along with information on academic achievement.
